SpareFoot, the largest online marketplace for self storage in the United States, is based out of Austin, Texas. Austin is famed as being the “Live Music Capital of the World” and this year SpareFoot is celebrating that heritage by offering one Austin-based musician or band an opportunity to perform at one of the city’s best parties of the year. It’s the first ever SpareFoot Battle of the Storage Bands.
The contest is pretty straightforward. SpareFoot is looking for one band or musician who practices in an Austin self-storage unit to open the SpareFoot Party at the historic Scoot Inn on March 7th. Interested artists should submit one YouTube video featuring an original song via the official SpareFoot Facebook page. Submissions will be accepted from now until February 21st. During that same time period, visitors to the SpareFoot page will be encouraged to vote for their favorite song or performer. The three acts receiving the most votes from the community will then advance to SpareFoot’s Band Selection Committee, which will choose the winning performer.
In addition to the chance to perform at the party, the winning band/artist will receive VIP passes to the party as well as one night’s lodging at, and transportation to and from, the Scoot Inn.
