Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and Events in Edmonton

  • A group of people celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day at a bar.
Green beer, corned beef and bagpipes—what’s not to love about Saint Patrick’s Day?

If you’re feeling virtuous, you can always start the day with a road race—and grab your first beer after burning a few hundred calories. If you’re feeling really virtuous, you can attend a special mass at St. Joseph’s Basilica in downtown Edmonton. (Remember that Saint Patrick got his rep from bringing Christianity to Ireland.)

Whether you’re in it for the beer, the music or even just the dancing, we’ve got you covered.

Saint Patrick’s Day Trail Run

This race, which starts at 9:30 a.m. on March 18, includes both 5k and 10k runs and walks. Registration, which ranges from $35 to $55 depending on how early you sign up, includes a post-event meal and a leprechaun medal.

Saint Patrick’s Day in the Pub

Edmonton has its share of Irish pubs, so rest up the day before and come prepared for great food, green beer, live music and more from these fine Irish establishments:

O’Byrne’s Irish Pub. Guinness wings, Irish stew and traditional fish and chips? Yes please! We’ll wash it down with a Smithwick.
Kelly’s Pub. Start your day early with a Hot Pot of Gold (coffee with a half ounce each of Goldschlagger Liqueur and Bailey’s Irish Cream).
Fionn MacCool’s. Guinness goes great with the bar’s signature Blarney Chips, which are waffle-cut potatoes smothered in a kicked-up ale cheese sauce and topped with diced tomatoes, green onions, and jalapeño peppers.
Duggan’s Boundary Irish Pub. A traditional Irish breakfast, which is served all day, will give you the energy you need to keep the party going till late.
Devaney’s Irish Pub. Come for the pub food, as well as 14 different kinds of Irish whiskey.
