Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Saskatoon

Saint Patrick’s Day isn’t an official holiday in most of Canada (Newfoundland is the one exception), but it’s certainly celebrated like it is.

Given that it falls on a Saturday this year, the party should be bigger than ever. Here are three great places to enjoy the day.

St. Patrick’s Day at O’Shea’s

The early bird gets the free Irish breakfast at O’Shea’s, where a fundraiser will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. for Pink Wigs (donation optional). At 11 a.m., the Irish dancers come in as the green beer flows. From 5 p.m. on, some of the area’s best pipe bands will be playing.

Kill the Keg at The Thirsty Scholar

The fun gets started March 17 at 10 a.m. with green beer right from the tap. Come for the live music, including Jord Dan and Wenches and Rogues. The Reverse Happy Hour means that 16 ounce Keiths start at $4.99, but every time a keg is emptied, the price drops to $2.99 for five minutes.

All Day St. Patrick’s Day Party at Finn’s Irish Pub

Arrive early for the $4 specialty shots, fantastic Irish menu, and $6 District Darks. If you really want to get the party started early, show up on Friday for their Pre-Saint Patrick’s Day party where Ray Richards will be playing from 5 to 11 p.m.
