Winter Get-Aways Near Regina, Canada

Sometimes you want to head out to enjoy winter; other times you just want to cozy up. Either way, you’ve got plenty of options in Regina, Canada.

6 Regina Winter Get-Aways

Whether you’re into cross-country skiing or museum hopping, Regina is an easy—and exciting—place to spend an afternoon or a weekend.

Head to Wascana Centre

This urban park doesn’t slow down just because of a few snowflakes. Instead, it celebrates them with snowshoeing, tobogganing, ice-skating, and cross-country skiing. Prefer to enjoy the view without a workout? Head to The Willow on Wascana for some of the city’s best food and best views.

Explore Regina’s Museums

Use The Hotel Saskatchewan, Autograph Collection as your home base, then head out to take in the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, the Saskatchewan Science Centre, or the MacKenzie Art Gallery, where you’ll find an exhibition on Saskatchewan-born artist Agnes Martin that runs through April 28.

Warm up at the Spa

Avicii Day Spa and Boutique is a lovely way to warm up. Choose the hot stone massage, a body wrap, or the Fire & Ice Treatment, which takes you back and forth between a giant ice bath and a hot steam sauna filled with fresh herbs.

Spend a Day with the Dogs

Sundogs Excursions teaches you to run a dog team while taking in the beauty of the boreal forest— and maybe even seeing wolves running across a frozen lake. Both half-day and overnight excursions are offered.

Tour a Castle

Francis Darke constructed Stone Hall Castle in 1926 to calm his wife, Annie, who was badly shaken by the 1912 tornado that devastated most of downtown Regina. Fill a winter weekend afternoon by booking a 1.5-hour tour of the castle or keep it super cozy (but rather pricey) and book the castle for the night for just under $1,500.

Take to the Trail

Prince Albert National Park offers groomed trails for cross-country skiing, including the popular Red Deer and Fisher trails. Other winter activities in the park include ice fishing, skating, winter camping, and kite-skiing.
