Bathroom Storage & Organization Tips

There are a multitude of different ways to keep your bathroom tidy and organized but finding the right storage solution for your space can be a challenge. While everyone’s bathroom is different, here are some useful ideas that will help you make the most out of your space.

If you recently moved into a new place or need to declutter your bathroom, a clean slate is the perfect starting point to organize all your toiletries and provide storage space so you can keep it clean and organized in the future.

Bathroom Storage Ideas

Before we get into organizing everything, it’s important to identify where everything is supposed to go. Toiletries, towels, cleaning supplies, shaving supplies, and more can quickly overwhelm your storage areas.

Many bathrooms have a closet either right next to them or inside them which provides perfect storage space for things like extra towels, first-aid supplies and medicine, as well as extra shampoo or body wash.

But, if you don’t have access to a closet next to your bathroom, baskets and bins are a perfect solution for extra toiletries and cleaning supplies. It helps to label them, so you (and your family or roommates) know where everything is supposed to go.

Another good idea to provide more storage space is to install shelves or cabinets above the toilet or in other unused spaces. This will provide a perfect spot for extra towels, decorations, and air freshener. You can also utilize hooks on the back of your bathroom door to hang towels and robes.

Now for the shower and bathtub area, many people will simply store their shampoo, body wash, and other toiletries on the shelves in the shower or on the floor. Instead, consider hanging a shower caddy from the shower head or installing one in a corner to keep your shower items within reach and to prevent them from constantly being knocked over.

Bathroom Counter Organization

So, now that you hopefully have chosen or provided storage spaces to reduce the messiness in your bathroom, it’s time to start organizing. The bathroom counter is generally what attracts the most clutter. Beard trimmers, toothbrushes and toothpaste, hand soap, medications, contacts – the list goes on.

It’s safe to assume most people use toothbrush holders, a hand soap container, and may have a medicine cabinet. But there are a few more things you can do to improve your counter organization. A tiered metal or wooden organizer is a great option. You can find them online or in home goods stores like Bed Bath & Beyond. They are perfect for things like lotion, contact lens cleaner, or skin care items.
