Upcycle Project: DIY Virtual Reality Glasses
Earth Day may be over, but recycling should be a year-round activity. Have you always wanted to try out virtual reality, but don't want to spend the high dollars for the equipment? No worries! Now you can use your phone with these DIY virtual reality glasses made by reusing cardboard.
What You'll Need:
- Cardboard shoe box
- X-Acto Knife
- 2 45mm
- biconvex lenses
- 4 strips of velcro
- Glue stick
Step 1: Download and Print the Template
Follow this link to download the PDF Template: VR Glasses Template
Step 2: Cut Out Design
Cut out the template and assemble on top of the cardboard as pictured. Use the x-acto knife to precisely cut the design as shown in the image.
Step 3: Connect the Cutouts
Use the template indicators to glue the cardboard pieces as directed. After you've assembled the VR glasses, go to your app store and look for VR supported apps or videos, and enjoy! See below for more photos.
Another way to recycle is to hold rummage or garage sales. If you have several friends who want to do the same, consider renting a storage unit to collect all of the items in one place without sacrificing garage space. Our store manager can help you find the best sized unit, or check out our handy sizing guide online.
