6 London, Ontario, Winter Get-Aways

Whether you’re into skiing or hitting the spa, London has options for you. Here are a half dozen of our favorites.

Hit the Slopes

Boler Mountain is a not-for-profit ski club located just west of London that offers skiing, as well as three 10-story-high tube runs. It’s also active in summer with a treetop adventure park, beach volleyball, mountain biking, and yoga.

Get Your Game On

If you like paintball, laser tag, and dodgeball, then you’ll love The Hood Archery Games. You’ll be divided into two teams, with the goal of eliminating your opposition one by one. The good news is that the arrows have foam tips.

Get Your Glow On

Built in 1878, the Idlewyld Inn & Spa combines old world elegance with modern amenities. It’s a great place for a hot stone massage and an even better place to spend the night, thanks to the Victorian fireplaces, beautiful wood trim, and private balconies.

Go for a Skate

Victoria Park is located right in downtown London. It’s known for its many events, its large black squirrel population (squirrel fishing is a thing there), and its ice-skating rink that is open till mid-March.

Have a Cold One—and a Tour

Labatt Brewery Company was founded by John Kinder Labatt in 1847 in London, Ontario. Labatt is still the largest brewer in Canada. See for yourself with a two-hour tour ($12), which includes samplings.

Check out the Spiders in Nearby Hamilton, Ontario

A little more than an hour east of London, Hamilton is a worthy weekend excursion. Stay warm in the 2,700-acre Royal Botanical Gardens and make sure to check out the “Spiders Alive” exhibit, which runs through April 14.
