EY Entrepreneur Of The Year, Cris Burnam
StorageMart President, Cris Burnam, is the Central Midwest Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
Having beat out more than 20 other entrepreneurs in the Kansas and Missouri region Burnam says he’s honored to have the award but credits his team with the success.
“I've got to thank all those folks that are behind the counter everyday delivering the service to our customers because that’s where the rubber hits the road,” Burnam said.
Burnam founded StorageMart in 1999 with his brother, Mike Burnam. The family grew up in the self-storage industry under the wing of their father, Gordon Burnam, who was a pioneer to the self storage industry. Burnam describes his father as a serial entrepreneur who saw the right business at the right time and had the opportunity to get in as the self storage industry began to take shape. He says he's grown up in self storage and has worked every odd-job along the way ranging from talking the roof with a hammer to drive in loose nails to manning the phones, and all the way to the office of president.
Burnam says he and his family are hopeful for the future and that "in business, you're either moving forward or you're falling behind."
Ernst & Young will be awarding its National Entrepreneur Of The Year Award in November of 2014.
