A company’s IT Department likely isn’t the first place you’d think to look when searching for world-class athletes, but not every company has an IT Department like that of StorageMart.
Andy Gilmore works for us as a Software Development Engineer, but that’s just about the only time you can find him sitting down. In fact, it’s just about the only time you can find him in contact with the ground.
Andy was a student-athlete at the University of Central Missouri (in Warrensburg, MO), where he was a member of the track and field team. His specific event was the high jump. He finished school, but he’s never stopped jumping. That dedication could very soon find him leaping into the U.S. Olympic Trials, and we are proud to be one of the sponsors helping him pursue that dream.
He has continued to compete in meets across the country and across the world. Next week he’ll be traveling to Europe to compete in the Brussels Grand Prix in Belgium on July 5th and Cork City Sports in Ireland on July 7th.
Andy’s goal is to reach a mark of 2.22 meters (7’ 3.25”). Earlier competitions this year have seen him get closer and closer to this mark, which should ensure him a spot at the U.S. Olympic Trials next June in Eugene, Oregon.
At StorageMart we tend to be pre-occupied with storage space and how we can help customers fill up enclosed rooms with their possessions. We couldn’t be more proud of Andy and his mission of flying through more and more open space on his path to the U.S. Olympic Team.
