There’s a new team in town to join the ranks of Edmonton’s other great sports teams. In spring of 2019, the Edmonton Stingers will be joining five other teams to launch the inaugural season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League. They’ll be playing in the Edmonton Expo Centre, a venue that can hold up to 4,000 fans.
The league is promising family-friendly “edge-of-your-set excitement through a high-caliber basketball experience.”

This Western Major Baseball League Team competes with 10 other Canadian teams throughout the summer, including the Edmonton Prospects, the Saskatoon Yellow Jackets, and the Moose Jaw Miller Express. See them play at RE/MAX field in Edmonton.
The Eskimos compete in the West Division of the Canadian Football League and play their games at The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. The team holds a North American professional sports record by qualifying for the play-offs for 34 years in a row between 1972 and 2005.
Edmonton is in Canada, so there’s got to be hockey. The NHL Edmonton Oilers do not disappoint; the team made the play-offs in 2017 after a big of a drought. They begin their 2018 season on Sept. 17 with a game in Calgary.
This professional soccer club was formerly a part of the United States Soccer Federation, but FC Edmonton left that league last year. They will be competing in the Canadian Premier League in the upcoming season.
